Job Title: HR & Crew Coordinator
This role offers the flexibility to shape responsibilities around your key skills. If you have strong experience in one area—whether it’s HR, payroll, or crewing—there is room for adapting the role to suit your strengths, while still providing opportunities to grow in the other areas. The position title may also be further tailored to best align with the selected candidate’s background.
Job Description:
The HR & Crew Coordinator will play a pivotal role in managing crew operations, ensuring accurate payroll processing, and supporting human resource functions. This role requires a dynamic individual who can balance the needs of crew management, HR processes, and payroll administration while ensuring compliance with labor laws and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute the recruitment, onboarding, and management of crew members.
• Ensure all crew and employee documentation complies with relevant laws and regulations.
• Administer payroll, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments for crew and other employees.
• Coordinate HR functions such as employee relations, performance management, and compliance with regulations.
• Coordinate crew rotations and work schedules in coordination with the operations team.
• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that align with company goals and legal requirements.
• Act as the point of contact for crew and employee inquiries related to HR and payroll issues.
• Collaborate with finance and operations to manage workforce budgets and optimize cost efficiency.
Requirements:
• Proven experience in a combined Crewing, Payroll, or HR role, or related managerial position.
• Knowledge of HR practices, payroll processes, and maritime crewing operations.
• Familiarity with labor laws and regulations, especially in maritime and international settings.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with both crew and office staff.
• Proficiency in HR and payroll management software. Experience or familiarity with OCS personnel program is a plus.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
• Certification(s) in payroll and/or HR-related functions is a plus.
• Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant experience.
• English language skills (oral and written) required; Norwegian in addition is a plus.
Location and Travel:
This position can be based out of either of our offices in Ålesund or Oslo, Norway. Occasional travel within Norway is required.
