Aker BioMarine is a leading biotechnology company developing krill-derived products for consumer health and wellness and animal nutrition. The company has a strong position in its industry and operates with three Norwegian-registered factory trawlers in Antarctica: Saga Sea, Antarctic Sea, and Antarctic Endurance in addition to our cargo and passenger vessel Antarctic Provider. The company’s main office is in Oslo, Norway, with an additional Norwegian office in Ålesund and a logistics base shifting product and crew in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Vessel Manager, Offshore Operations
Position purpose:
- To be an on shore supporting resource for the vessel(s).
- To keep the communications between vessel(s) and operations office to its best.
- Securing that the vessel(s) are in optimal technical condition at all times.
- Securing minimum downtime as a consequence of technical breakdowns in any area of the vessel(s).
- Shipyard planning.
- Be on site for execution and organize service companies at shipyard.
- The position is not set to a specific vessel and may change during the season if required or by request from management.
Responsibilities:
Overall
- Being key contact for all vessel technical matters, and responsible for maintaining a well working communication both written and oral with the vessel(s).
- Ensure that vessel(s) comply with class rules and regulations as well as company standards.
- Being informed about production, crew and harvesting related matters.
- Plan, present and keep budget with vessel(s) in a condition that enables the achievement of defined KPI´s. Inform manager and finance if and when there are changes, especially issues that leads to cost overrun.
- Plan and execute shipyard stay.
- Develop, implement, maintain and manage technical and operational support services, including, but not limited to, keeping the company planned maintenance system updated.
- Plan, present and keep budget with vessels kept in acceptable condition. Inform Technical Director and finance if and when there are financial changes (e.g. breakdowns that lead to cost overrun).
- Control invoices against deliveries’, link invoices (or control that it is already done correctly from purchase department) to correct PO and/or project, and approve via digital approval system.
- Build and maintain “idea bank” (Trello) for vessel improvements including suggestions for business cases.
- Make and present business cases for vessel improvements.
- Assist all vessel operation departments when needed.
- Responsible that insurance cases are followed up, either by oneself or by delegating assignment.
- Keeping contact with the local agencies wherever in the world the vessel(s) enter.
- Securing that the risk matrix is held updated at all times.
- Securing and that critical spare parts are at a sufficient level and that spare parts strategy is overheld.
- Secure that the provision ordering is according to budget and that inventory control is perform during the season with especially focus on thorough control by emptying provision holds during lay-up period for cleaning and maintenance.
Interface management
- QA/QC: Quality and audit related matters.
- Finance: Budget, business cases, OKR´s and KPI reports.
- Montevideo: Import manager and storage facility for equipment.
Reporting and follow-up
- Monthly reporting of budget and expenditures. Opex as well as Capex.
- Monthly reporting on provision status.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience
- Fluent in English both verbally and in written form
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office tools, preferably trained in TM Master and Shipadmin
- Preferable technical education
The Vessel Manager will work primarily at our office in Ålesund, Norway. Shipyard stays and some other travel will be required.
